On Dec 2nd the UK granted emergency-use authorization for the first vaccine. It was the first country to do so, and it was ahead of what had been forecast a couple of months earlier. This is the beginning of good news. It looks like covid vaccines will start being selectively distributed in the spring of 2021, and widely distributed soon thereafter.
In other good news, the economies of the world seem to be recovering quickly from the covid shock. Congratulations to the world governments and financial organizations which have done so well at containing that part of the Covid Crisis.
Many other surprises popped up in the last half of December. Many of those swirled around President Trump's choices during his final days. One not related to that was a finally successful Brexit negotiation.
