Roger:

Point One: So.... is it important that Jesus suffered a lot?

Point Two: Again, what I'm suggesting is that either Jesus was "human" during The Passion (unsure of his divine nature), or he was "divine" (fully aware that he was part God as well as part human).

If he was "human", then all that he said and did during The Passion were the actions of a human, and his actions were inspired in the same fashion as, say, those of John the Baptist. The "mortal veil" would have kept his words and actions from being any more inspired than that.

If he was "divine", then his words and actions during The Passion could be coming from a more-than-human source, but in that case he would also be fully aware that his up-and-coming death was going to be a temporary phase.

If he was "human" and felt that his death was going to be a temporary phase, then he was, pretty much by definition, insane, and his words and actions were those of an insane person.

Toby: I have noted that you have not responded to your personal problems with suffering and who you would suffer for...

Point one: yes he had to suffer and die.

Point two -- false dicotomy (sp) the veil is not complete, not even for the ordinary believer; Jesus made it clear that in human form he did not have omniscience but neither was he without faith and understanding of certain matters. (would not say when the end times were, did speak of divine matters.)

Point 3 the "Jesus was insane" argument is as tired and discredited as, well .... how ARE your friends at the "flat earth society" these days?
