My form of immortality is passing on ideas and genes, and immortality is important to me.

why? its not rational

Having children who are successful at having children is very important to me. Being able to generate ideas that are useful to other people, and get passed on, is the other important thing in my life. When I'm being my most purposeful, this is what I'm working to accomplish.

why what is the rational?

> why do u care about the univ except were it directly impinges on you? black hole worm holes so what?

Utilitarianism does not rule out either curiousity or entertainment. I enjoy both, a lot. My biggest joy is finding new patterns between old bits of knowledge (what might be called wisdom). My web site reflects things I am interested in.

how does a black hole contribute to wisdom?

If I'm going to generate those new patterns, I need to experience new things. I rarely shy away from trying something new and different. Fortunately, our folks did a wonderful job of giving us a lot of novelty as we were growing up. I just keep looking for it.

sure, but your progeny only matter till the day you die, then poof nothing.

>> But, if I have this right, in your frame of thinking knowing what is good and what is evil is more important than knowing what will happen?

> sure. I don't know for sure what will happen, but I do know that good v evil matters, my role in that IS determinitive of my eternal destiny (silly point for you) but even for my "purgatorial destiny" and even for how I think about myself from hour to hour. (I have a conscience).

Excellent! I think I've gained a lot of understanding. Now I will be using this to generate some more essays about how the world works.

this is news to you? it has been the dominant thought of the entire history of usa and westrern europe for two millenia
